Soap Melts Quickly

by Sally
(Philippines)

Been doing cp soap successfully most of the time. I just want to ask why my cp soap melts easily despite added stearic acid.

Answer:

How quickly your soap dissolves depends on a few factors.

The ingredients used in your soap will determine how hard the soap will be. Though you have added stearic acid, if the recipe is low on oils containing palmitic and stearic acids, the bars may still be soft.

Soap's nature is to dissolve so it must be left away from water to dry between uses.

Using a washing mitt or bath pouf will also help to prolong the life of your soap. These items make it possible to use much less soap and produce a great lather.
